About Us
Professional Pet Breeders Australia (PPDBA) is an administrative body for professional pet dog breeders in Australia. It is the expectation that our members have well established breeding programs in place with a professional level of planning involved. The PPDBA supports both purebred and hybrid bred pet dogs.
The aim of the PPDBA is to allow our members with extensive experience in the pet dog industry to be recognised for their expertise and professional management practices.
All PPDBA members will have completed an independent veterinary audit before membership is granted, with a further PPDBA internal review process of management practices to ensure a demonstrated commitment to quality bred dogs and welfare based breeding.
The PPDBA provides general members of the public access to pet dog breeders with the main goal of breeding healthy and happy pet companions. PPDBA members promote responsible companion ownership by providing education on breed traits ensuring the animals are best fit for a potential home, provide ongoing customer support and offer a lifetime rehoming policy.

The pet dog industry in Australia is diverse and it is difficult for members of the community to select a breeder on merit. The goal of the PPDBA is to provide a platform for potential dog buyers to readily access a database of professional dog breeding enterprises. The benefits of choosing a professional breeder essentially gives the consumer a direct advantage as they are buying from a breeder have invested years into developing breeding lines and strives for highest quality progeny. This platform allows PPDBA members to move away from what is considered ‘backyard breeding’. Added to this, puppies that have been raised in professional breeding facilities are treated with a high standard of daily care, receive all necessary veterinary checks, and are provided with important socialisation and temperament assessments. The PPBDA works with its members to ensure high professional standards with a focus on animal welfare are met.
